Firewall bridge for SOAP

The Firewall bridge for SOAP is a software component that provides a transparent mechanism to forward soap calls from server to client and vice versa, even if the client is
shielded by a firewall and/or NAT. The client regularly polls its counter-part on the server side for available tasks. The firewall bridge is typically used in home gateways that
must be accessible from a central web portal.

Key features
• Execute requests from a central server received over http or https, even if the device sits behind a firewall that blocks incoming connections.
• Performs SOAP calls from the client domain specific application to a server side application over http or https.
• Authentication based on certificates.
• Supports Fire and Forget mechanism.
• Switch to a backup server in case the original server is unreachable.
• Supports scalability using hardware based load balancing (both internal and external entry points can be scaled individually).
• Local and Remote configuration (Poll rate, server list, etc).
• Allows custom implementation for state and/or output component.
• Client implementation in C++

System requirements
• Embedded Linux device with Linux operating system
• Ethernet connection

Usage scenarios
• Enabling remote energy metering and management controlled by a central server park
• Typically used in conjunction with the Firmware Update module for remote software upgrading of embedded devices
